Version 7.4 of the SDR-OEM-CF firmware is now available. This code revision includes improved performance at high data rates and reduced power consumption while recording.
As usual, this firmware update is available at no charge to all SDR-OEM-CF customers and requires replacing a socketed chip on the SDR-OEM-CF circuit board.
Please contact Acumen Instruments if you would like to receive an update kit or have Acumen Instruments retrofit your circuit SDR-OEM-CF.

This month's issue of EDN Magazine has a good overview of embedded hard disks and their use in consumer electronics on page 30. While not dealing with PC-compatible file system solutions like Acumen's, the article gives a good overview including electrical, acoustical, and performance, and heat considerations for embedded hard disks. |

The SDR-OEM-CF firmware has been updated to revision 7.3. New features include:
- ability to record to files to a subdirectory (overcoming the root directory's 512-file limit)
- Recording Parameters submenu
- option to delete the oldest file on the disk when space is needed (ring buffering)
- improved handling of Date/Time fields for data files
