6. Can I use the SDR to log data from an embedded system?

Many of our customers use the DataBridge SDR for exactly this. The SDR "blindly" grabs data as seen on its serial port, meaning it makes no attempt to translate or garble binary data it receives, which makes it well-suited to embedded systems.
Most of our customers use a UART on their microcontroller to transmit data in RS-232 format to the SDR. On the SDR-OEM-CF board, you can configure custom filenames (and directory) and many other options including timestamping using a computer attached to the SDR-OEM-CF's secondary serial port (configuration port). Once configured, your embedded system shouldn't need to change settings.
